Graphics when produced are printed to an acetate type material commonly know as Duratrans. The duratrans of today can be very intricate and complex allowing all sorts of images and back lit photography on them. These are a great draw factor to any display as they are well lit and add eye catching definition to the images. Typically the Film/Duratrans is mounted to a piece of opal acrylic (the substrate) and can then be sandwiched between the opal acrylic and a clear piece at the front to protect the image.
